LORENZ: It is with sadness that the family of Norbert W. Lorenz announces his passing on December 7, 2022 at the age of 70.
Norbert is survived by his loving wife, Elayne; son, Jonathan (Tawnya); daughter, Tannis Lazerte; seven grandchildren; siblings, Louise (Terry Pearson), Lionel (Gail), brother-in-law Ray Dexter; Edward (Linda), Marlene Risling, Ron (Barb), and Annette (Barry Davidson); brothers-in-law, Dennis Harris (Darlene) and Arnie Harris (D’Arcy); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Norbert was pre-deceased by: his parents, Simon and Clara Lorenz; sister, Vivian Dexter; nephew, C.A. Gregory Pearson, and brother-in-law, Mel Risling.
Prayer Vigil was held at Descent of the Holy Spirit Ukrainian Catholic Church on December 14, 2022 with Father Roman Kobyletskyy officiating. The Mass of Christian Burial was conducted from St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church on December 15, 2022 with Father Arun Rodrigues officiating. Eulogies were presented by Ron Lorenz, Rick McMahon, and Tannis Lazerte.
The two “bookends” of his life were his love of farming.The middle years of his life was owning and operating Family Pizza from 1990-2018. Norbert was a quiet, humble man who avoided being in the limelight. He loved his family and had a deep commitment to developing his Christian faith by regularly attending Mass, prayer groups, and studying the teachings of the Catholic church.
Donations in memory of Norbert may be made to The Olive Tree Community Centre, LRHF-Lloydminster Hospital Palliative Care or donor’s charity of choice.
Norbert’s family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the first responders, ICU staff at Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, the team of medical staff at Lloydminster Emergency and the 3rd floor. Thank you to friends, family, and strangers who offered their prayers, words of love, practical acts of kindness, as well as donations made in his memory. Thank you to Brett McCaw and staff for your help during our difficult time. Our family has felt so loved and supported throughout Norbert’s illness.
