An intelligence-based crime reduction project between the Lloydminster RCMP’s General Investigations Section (GIS), Eastern Alberta District’s Crime Reduction Unit (EAD CRU), Lloydminster RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and Lloydminster RCMP led to a busy week within Lloydminster.
Between Jan. 10, to Jan. 13, Multiple RCMP units collaborated in a joint project with the communal goal to disrupt street level criminal activity in Lloydminster, apprehend prolific offenders, and identify high crime areas within Lloydminster.
As a result of this joint project, 40 Warrants were executed, 13 persons were arrested, 6 new Criminal Code charges were laid, and 3 stolen vehicles were recovered.
As a result of the project, Lloydminster RCMP arrested 58-year-old Richard Parkhurst, a resident of Lloydminster. Parkhurst has been charged with:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while Prohibited
- Possession of stolen property over $5000.00
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking a controlled Substance (Heroin and Fentanyl)
Parkhurst was remanded in custody to Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court and appeared on Jan. 16. As a result of the court proceedings, Pankhurst received a sentence of 2 Years custody for the above noted offences.
“Lloydminster RCMP will continue these types of proactive operations to ensure that prolific offenders are following Court Orders and held accountable when they are not,” said Cpl. K. Rhodenizer of the Lloydminster GIS.
“These types of projects are another example of effective partnership within policing and another step towards building a safer community”.
