On June 19, 2023 at approximately 10 p.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of an assault at a residence on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation.
Investigation determined an adult male, who was armed with a firearm, assaulted an adult female at the residence. The female was able to leave the residence and call for assistance. She reported non-life-threatening injuries to police.
Battlefords RCMP and Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team searched the residence for the male, who was not located.
As a result of further investigation, Kelly McDonald, 37, from Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation is charged with:
– one count, assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
– one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
– one count, using a firearm in the commission of an offence, Section 85(3), Criminal Code;
– one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code; and
– one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code (Information 90504394).
A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Battlefords RCMP are actively working to locate him.
McDonald is described as approximately 5’11” and 150 lbs. He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
McDonald may be driving an orange, 1985 Chevrolet truck with a short box/bed.
