The Lloydminster Rescue Squad is preparing to host their 9th annual Sirens and Sapphires Gala Oct. 5 at the WLS Convention Center. This year’s event carries special significance as it marks the squad’s 40th anniversary.
Ryan LeBlanc from the Lloydminster Rescue Squad expressed the team’s excitement and appreciation for the community’s support.
“It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come,” said LeBlanc. “With the equipment we’ve been able to acquire and the involvement of the community, we’ve been able to make a significant impact, helping families in need,”
The gala is the squad’s main fundraiser and has grown in popularity over the years, with 2019’s event bringing in $100,000. The funds raised are crucial to the squad and their operations, covering expenses such as training, insurance, fuel and maintenance of essential equipment. This year, the focus is on getting new training equipment, which will be showcased at the gala.
“We try to pick a piece of equipment we need each year,” said LeBlanc. “This year, it’s all about new training equipment that will enhance our capabilities. We’ll have some pretty awesome displays down at the gala,”
The event begins with a mix-and-mingle session at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00 p.m. A live auction and performance by the band Uptown will close the evening. With over three-quarters of the tickets already sold, LeBlanc emphasized the importance of securing a spot soon.
“Every year, the community comes together and sells our event out. We’re just so thankful. We’re already just over three-quarters sold out now, so the tickets are going quick,” said LeBlanc.
With advancements in technology and continued community support, the squad will continue to provide essential services to the Lloydminster area.
Tickets for the Sirens and Sapphires Gala are available through the Lloydminster Rescue Squad’s website or by phone.
