After a 3-2 home-ice exhibition win over the Pontiacs (1-1) on Aug. 30, the Lloydminster Bobcats (1-1) were going for a sweep in Bonnyville last night.
The ‘Yaks, however, had other plans and came out with a 4-2 win at the R.J. Lalonde Arena.
Bonnyville’s Jordan Schanbacher was first on the board late in the third. Lloydminster’s Aidan LaRose, however, got the equalizer midway through the second frame.
Unfortunately for Lloyd, Pontiacs’ forward Kailus Green made it a 2-1 game 1:30 after LaRose’s goal.
Bobcats’ defender Jack Birch was quick to response with an equalizer of his own at the 15-minute mark in the second.
The Bobcats started the third period shorthanded with Kade Fendelet still serving 1:30 of a second-period interference call. The Pontiacs capitalized 1:19 into the frame with a second goal from the tape of Green.
Bonnyville’s Cyprus Smith-Davis put the nail in the coffin with an empty-netter at 18:44 in the third.
The Bobcats are back on home ice this Wednesday, Sept. 4 to host the Camrose Kodiaks. The puck drops at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Civic Centre.
