Federal NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh has announced his plans to end their Supply and Confidence deal with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s Liberals.
“Today I notified the prime minister that I have ripped up the supply and confidence agreement, Canadians are fighting a battle, a battle for the future of the middle class,” said Singh in a video posted to his social media.
“Justin Trudeau’s proven again and again he will always cave to corporate greed,” he continues.
The agreement being ripped up today leaves the now-minority Liberals at risk of falling if they were to lose any confidence votes.
The announcement comes just two weeks before parliament resumes on Sept. 16.
The supply and confidence agreement, originally signed between the NDP and Liberal’s in 2022, guaranteed NDP support for the minority government on budgetary and confidence votes in the House of Commons.
