What appeared to be a serious injury led to an early end of the Lloyd Comp Jr. Baron's football game on Oct. 6.
Mid-way through the third quarter, a player for the Babineau Warriors required medical attention after a play. An ambulance transported him off the field to a local healthcare facility.
The Warriors, due to lack of players and an inability to fill positions, chose to forfeit the game, giving the Baron's a 1-0 win.
The Jr. Baron's head coach was able to update The Meridian Source on the condition of the injured player Sunday evening.
"The player will be fine, the CT scan was negative and he's expected to make a full recovery," said Cole Bloxam.
Meanwhile, until that point, he said the game was well played and a hard-fought defensive battle.
Each team had taken the ball up and down the field but was never able to end the drive with points. It was a 0-0 battle when the injury occurred.
"They were a tough team in their own right, they showed up, played hard and I told their coach they played like lions," said Bloxam. "It's an unfortunate way to end a game.”
Additionally, he reflected on how his team played up until that point and was proud of the effort.
"We showed how tough we were. We made several goal-line stands and kept them off the scoreboard," stated Bloxam. "We're going to make sure we work on the execution and coming together and making some more plays in the end to win some games."
Their next game is in two weeks time at home against the Knoll Panthers. The game will take place at Armstrong Field at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19.
