The nights are getting cold but the coldest night is still yet to come.
According to the Lloydminster Men’s Shelter, the coldest night will be Feb. 22, 2025. Not referring to the temperature but rather the fundraiser, The Coldest Night of the Year.
“We are very excited to be partnered with the coldest night of the year 2025 as our next fundraiser,” said Kagan Kneen, executive director, Lloydminster Men’s Shelter. “We’ve actually been part of the coldest night of the year since 2013 as one of our big fundraisers every year.”
The annual fundraiser will see walkers depart from downtown Lloydminster on either a 5 km loop or on a 2 km out-and-back.
This year’s goal is to raise $35,000.
“This year we are also looking for corporate sponsorships, it’s something a lot of organizations across Canada have done very well,” said Kneen. “We’re hoping to get some additional sponsorships so we can continue to raise more money so we can expand our additional services, and once again, hopefully find that permanent location for us.”
He says the fundraiser aligns with the Running for Shelter fundraiser they put on over the summer.
People looking to sign up for the event can do so at CNOY.org and search Lloydminster Men’s Shelter, or by the location of Lloydminster.
