A 35-year-old Lloydminster woman is facing charges after Vermilion RCMP officers conducted a well-being check on Jan. 17.
Police were called to a rural area near Township Road 524 and Range Road 82. During the investigation, officers found a variety of items, including bear spray, suspected drugs, and other substances.
RCMP said they seized about 2.93 grams of suspected psilocybin, over 27 grams of suspected methamphetamine, more than 4 grams of fentanyl, nearly 2 grams of suspected cocaine, and a large quantity of suspected gabapentin.
Francis Meesto, 35, was arrested and charged with multiple offences. These include two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She is also charged with endangering an animal.
RCMP officers also found a very young puppy at the scene. Police said the animal was in distress and needed immediate care. The puppy was taken for treatment.
Meesto has been released from custody. She is scheduled to appear in court on Mar. 17, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Vermilion.
