Town of Kindersley faces $175K in fines after the death of a staff member.
The town plead guilty to one violation of The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 2020, in Kindersley Provincial Court on Aug. 13.
Charges come after the Aug. 20, 2022 death of a town employee. The employee was allegedly entering a sewer manhole during the incident.
The town was charged with contravening subsection 21-1 (2) of the regulations.
The court imposed a fine of $125,000 with a surcharge of $50,000 for a total of $175,000 as a result of the death.
Four other charges were withdrawn.
