Cold Lake RCMP arrested three individuals after multiple prohibited weapons were found.
On Sept. 1, the location of a stolen vehicle was provided to Cold Lake RCMP.
Officers arrived at a location on Cold Lake First Nations and found the vehicle. According to RCMP, they located two other stolen vehicles on the property with one of those vehicles containing a loaded shotgun with various magazines and ammunition.
"Through investigation, officers were able to determine that suspects were still inside the residence and containment was set up in the area with the assistance of Cold Lake Police Dog Services and the Emergency Response Team," said RCMP.
"Entry was made inside the residence by the Emergency Response team and arrests were made without incident. While inside the residence officers observed firearms in plain sight and the residence was held for a search warrant resulting in the recovery of numerous firearms prohibited and non-restricted, ammunition and firearm magazines."
19-year-old Klody Cardinal, 31-year-old Matthew Francois and 25-year-old Shayleen Moyah were all taken into custody.
The three individuals were charged with three counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. Additionally, there are two counts of Unauthorized possession of a firearm and one count each of unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon and Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon while unauthorized. They also received one charge each of resist/obstruct peace officer.
Francois was charged with three counts of weapons possession contrary to order, while Moyah received one charge of the offence. Additionally, Cardinal was charged with two counts of failure to comply with release order.
All three were remanded in custody until Sept. 11, when they will appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Cold Lake.
