Torresan back on theatre board

Lloydminster Council voted in favour of appointing current Coun. Jonathan Torresan to the Vic Juba Community Theatre Board.

Torresan announced his intention to not run for municipal office early in September. He sat on the board as a member of council and has to now be reappointed to the board.

A letter of request to have Torresan appointed was provided to council, and as per city bylaws, a member of the board had to be appointed by them.

Luckily for Torresan, some recent antics in the wrestling ring solidified his spot on the board.

“I think this is appropriate given Coun. Torresan’s magnanimous presentation as a thespian within our community in his recent venture in the ring,” said Coun. Michael Diachuk.

The event in question was elaborated on during council reports at the same meeting on Oct. 21.

“I got the opportunity to give a wrestler a stunner at Cheers Live, which is a wrestling move,” said Torresan. “He was talking about our community in negative ways, so I felt it necessary to put some wrestling moves on him.”

In an interview in September with the Meridian Source Torresan said he was going to continue his time with the theatre.

“I’m going to put some focus and give some free time to ensure we’re making that (Vic Juba Community Theatre) the best possible little theatre it can be,” he explained.

His commitment and wrestling moves won over council as they voted in favour of putting him on the board.
