Asbestos leak ices curling operations

An asbestos leak has the Lloydminster Curling Club icing operations for the foreseeable future.

The City of Lloydminster notified the club of the asbestos leak at 5:20 p.m. on Nov. 20.

The club’s board of directors released a statement saying, “The building will shut down. All curling leagues and activities are cancelled immediately and for the foreseeable future.”

The City advised the club to not allow anyone to enter the building.

“Once we are advised with further instructions from the City, we will update. We apologize for the inconvenience and will keep you updated (when) we know more,” state the club.

The club also stated on Facebook it’s “Hoping this (is) short term and we are back up and running in a few days.”
