RCMP arrest three for drug trafficking

Saskatchewan RCMP arrested three and seized multiple firearms in a drug trafficking investigation. Officers seized meth and other evidence of drug trafficking.

On Nov. 28, Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT), North Battlefords Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) and Crime Reduction Team (CRT), and the Battlefords Detachment executed search warrants at two residences.

The search warrants were part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Officers arrested 16 individuals – nine females and seven males – at the two residences. Thirteen were later released without charges. 

While executing the search warrants, officers located and seized methamphetamine and other evidence of drug trafficking, three firearms, ammunition, three replica firearms and body armour.

RCMP lay charges

As a result of investigation, three individuals are charged.

Heather Mooswa, 27, from North Battleford, was charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
  • one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code.

Joannie Mooswa, 22, from North Battleford, SK, is charged with:

  • one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Zackery Sanderson, 32, from Kinistino, Sask., is charged with:

  • one count, weapons possession contrary to order and fail to surrender authorization, Section 117.01(1), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, unsafe storage of firearms, Section 86(2), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code.

Heather Mooswa, Joannie Mooswa and Sanderson appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Dec. 2, 2024.
