Highway 17 re-open after fatal collision

This morning’s collision on Highway 17 claimed the life of a 24-year-old Lloydminster man.

At approximately 7:45 a.m., Maidstone RCMP received a report of a crash about five kilometres north of Lloydminster. Officers responded immediately to the scene.

The investigation revealed that a semi-truck and a pick-up truck collided. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) pronounced the driver of the pick-up truck dead at the scene. Authorities have identified him as a 24-year-old resident of Lloydminster, his family has been notified.

The driver of the semi-truck did not report any injuries to police.

Highway 17 was temporarily closed to allow for the initial investigation but has since reopened. Meanwhile, Maidstone RCMP, with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
