Meadow Lake RCMP received a report of a shooting on Feb. 8, 2025, at about 6:15 p.m. Officers arrived at Waterhen Lake First Nation and found a man with serious injuries. Paramedics took him to the hospital.
Investigators later confirmed the victim, 29-year-old Antoine Hamm of Waterhen Lake First Nation, died in hospital on Feb. 13.
Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes took over the investigation. They worked with Meadow Lake RCMP, the RCMP’s General Investigation Section, and Forensic Identification Services.
On Feb. 16, police charged Logan Lapratt with second-degree murder. They also charged Derek Lasas with manslaughter with a firearm.
Both accused are scheduled to appear in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on Feb. 18, 2025.
