RCMP arrested a 28-year-old Kehewin resident after a home invasion with a firearm on Feb. 16 which lead to a shelter in place order.
Bonnyville RCMP responded to the incident at 6:49 p.m. Officers from St. Paul RCMP also assisted. The suspect fled on foot before police arrived. The victim was not harmed.
Officers secured the area and called the Emergency Response Team. Furthermore, the investigation revealed the suspect had stolen an SUV and escaped. Elk Point RCMP later found the vehicle occupied on Road 2 in Kehewin.
The Emergency Response Team arrested the suspect without incident. Meanwhile, they now face multiple charges, including:
- Two counts of break and enter with intent
- Discharging a firearm while reckless
- Five counts of failing to comply with a probation order
- Several other offences
The suspect is awaiting a judicial interim hearing. Police will release more details, including the suspect’s name and court date, after the hearing.
