If you know a youth or organization promoting public safety, you can nominate them for an award.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) has launched the President’s Awards to recognize achievements in public protection across the province.

“These awards help showcase the incredible work of youth and organizations in the province,” said SPSA president and fire commissioner Marlo Pritchard.

“It’s paramount we recognize and appreciate the efforts of those who help to keep our province safe and prepared.”

One award honours a student in the Emergency Services Response Training Program. However, the recipient must show skill, dedication and a strong interest in helping others.

Meanwhile, the award can also go to any young person committed to public safety or performs life-saving procedures.

A second award recognizes prevention initiatives. Communities, schools or organizations that improve preparedness within their jurisdiction can qualify. However, organizations that also support surrounding areas will receive additional consideration.

More information on the awards is available at saskpublicsafety.ca.
