It’s been 19 long years in the making, Costco leads the border city to the future of shopping.

An unnamed source confirms Costco’s major impact on Lloydminster since the initial plans were first made public.

“Its been the talk of the town since people first heard the name Costco. It may as well be bigger than the border markers,” said the source.

The 152,000 sq ft location will engulf most of Lloydminster and eyes will be planted squarely on the warehouse.

“We know people love coming here, we see them renewing memberships and we are happy to provide them that perfect every-day service,” said the source, further commenting on the long-time rumours.

“Its been here the whole time, people just didn’t realize it. With this announcement, I’m sure plenty of people will be more than thrilled to come back.”

The store has managed to evade the eye of many long-time Lloyd residents as the plans have been kept under wraps.

“Listen, it’s hard to even talk about it now, the amount of emails and calls I got about this were unreal. For every one Lloydminster resident, I got about five emails. That’s almost 100,000 emails! Luckily the people on the Saskatchewan side haven’t realized we’re here yet due to the border and all,” they said.

While it’s hard to pinpoint the exact impact something like this has on Lloydminster, initial indications are promising.

“We are so inundated with requests about this Costco its been hard to keep up. All I can say is the future is bright,” the source said.

The unnamed source didn’t comment on other details, they did, however, say stay tuned for more.

For one Lloyd resident, this was a dream come true.

“I’ve been living in the city for 60 years, every month I hear about Costco this or Costco that. I kept hoping it would happen, kept the chatter going by posting under fake accounts on Facebook so the Costco higher ups wouldn’t be able to ignore us. Now, look at what we did; we did the unthinkable,” said Lee Jeffries.

Jeffries will be celebrating for decades to come alongside the border city as tissues at the Sherwood Park location are $6 off for a limited time.

  1. I don’t understand this. The title and beginning made me think it was a joke? I’m still not sure. Is this joking that Costco has been here a while and people don’t know? Very confusing. Not funny if it’s supposed to be? Can’t even tell
