Dean Peter Gamache, 35, who was under a court order not to drive, was seen leaving a local business. On-duty officers located the vehicle and confirmed Gamache was behind the wheel.

Police attempted a traffic stop before Gamache fled at high speed and ran a stop sign.

Officers chose not to pursue him, prioritizing public safety, however, Gamache was arrested at his home without incident later that day.

Gamache was charged with:

  • Driving while prohibited.
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle.
  • Flight from police.
  • Failing to comply with a release order.

Gamache was released by the courts after initially being remanded by a justice of the peace.

He is scheduled to appear in court in Bonnyville on Aug. 5.

“We want the community to know we are committed to holding accountable all criminals, especially those who would do continuous harm to our homes,” said Sgt. MacFarland of the Bonnyville RCMP.

“This file shows we are always on alert for prolific offenders and will do everything we can to protect the public and property they’ve worked so hard to earn.”
