Environment Canada claims conditions are favourable for the development of funnel clouds in parts of Alberta today (Aug. 7).
The funnel clouds are expected to form under rapidly-growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. Officials warn some may touch down and become landspout tornadoes.

These types of tornadoes are generally weak but can still pose a risk—capable of damaging roofs, toppling trees or tossing debris.
If conditions worsen, Environment Canada says it will issue tornado watches or warnings as needed.
Residents should stay alert and monitor the latest forecasts and alerts.
