Battery World marked 10 years in Lloydminster with a community barbecue and a look back at its journey.

The store opened in 2015 during what staff describe as one of the most challenging periods for the region.

“It’s a milestone, indeed, especially considering we opened right at the lowest point in the oil crash recession,” said assistant store manager Randy Marsh. “It tells us the community can, and has, trusted us with their battery needs.”

The event included a by-donation barbecue, which raised $1,277 for The GOAT’s Christmas Wish.

“Who doesn’t love a barbecue? Burgers, hot dogs, plus, we were doing it for a good cause,” said Marsh.

Customers and staff from across Alberta and Saskatchewan joined the celebration.

“We had a lot of regular customers come down and even had some staff come in from other locations, even as far as Calgary,” said Marsh.

Over the decade, staff noticed changes in what customers need, especially in the auto sector.

“Newer vehicles with higher power demands require specific batteries, which we fortunately have,” he said, noting the community’s played a central role in keeping the doors open.

“It takes a lot to open a business, but it takes even more to keep the customers coming back.”

Battery World staff attribute their success to teamwork, as all staff play an essential role in the company’s success in supporting the Lloydminster community.
