Bonnyville RCMP make significant drug bust, recover stolen handgun

Bonnyville RCMP made a significant drug bust and recovered a stolen handgun on Sept. 22 as a result of a search warrant in the area of Moose Lake Drive.

The search warrant was obtained for an investigation into unlawful firearms possession. RCMP located:

  • 820 grams of suspected cocaine;
  • 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine;
  • Prescription pills; 
  • A stolen 9mm SIG handgun

Jeffery Albert, a 45-year-old resident of Bonnyville, was charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, 
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, 
  • Possession of stolen property,
  • Possession of a weapon obtained by crime,
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm,
  • Possession of a firearm knowing possession of unauthorized, 
  • Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition, 
  • Careless use of a firearms 
  • Transfer a firearm without authority.

Albert was taken before a uustice of the peace and remanded into custody. He is scheduled to appear at the Albert Court of Justice in Lac La Biche on Sept. 29.
