Battlefords RCMP charge three, issue arrest warrant after robbery

Battlefords RCMP arrested three women on Oct. 22 after reports of a robbery at a business on the Highway 16 bypass in North Battleford.

According to the RCMP, a group of individuals entered the business, threatened a male with a knife and demanded his phone and wallet.

Officers responded immediately and observed the suspect vehicle leaving a nearby parking lot. Officers initiated a traffic and arrested one male and five females. During the arrest, one of the females provided a false name to officers.

Police charged Mia Starchief, 21, from Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation and Celicia Pete, 33, from North Battleford with:

  • one count, robbery;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000; and
  • one count, uttering threats against a person.

Starchief was also charged with one count, resists/obstructs peace officer and Pete was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Battlefords RCMP. Both appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Oct. 23.

The male and three other women were later released without charge, however, Angel Bear, 35, of North Battleford, was charged with:

  • one count, robbery; and 
  • one count, possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

Battlefords RCMP continue work to locate Bear and issued an arrest warrant. Mounties ask members of the public to report sightings and information on her whereabouts.

Police describe Bear as:

  • Height: 5’2”
  • Weight: 100 lbs
  • Eye colour: green
  • Hair colour: brown
