According to police, the pair arrived in a truck and offered to do paving work, but the property representatives noticed several red flags and declined to provide payment. The suspects were reportedly wearing high-visibility clothing, and one of them spoke with a heavy accent, possibly British or Scottish.

RCMP say other detachments and police services across Saskatchewan have received similar reports of potential asphalt-related frauds this year.

Residents are reminded to research contractors before agreeing to any work, check reviews, and obtain written quotes detailing materials and services before proceeding. Police also advise residents not to feel pressured into making immediate decisions or payments.

Anyone with information about the Maidstone incident or who believes they may have been a victim of fraud is asked to contact police at 310-RCMP or reach Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
