Alberta Education and Childcare has issued a probationary licence to Happy House Daycare (South), which will remain in effect until Feb. 5, 2026. The ministry said Child Care Licensing is closely monitoring the program to ensure compliance.

According to the province, the decision follows significant safety concerns related to supervision and unsafe toys and equipment. As a result, Child Care Licensing reduced the daycare’s licensed capacity from 310 to 286 spaces in August 2025.

Under the terms of the probation, the licence holder must notify all parents of the change in licence status and provide proof of that notification to the ministry.

Families seeking alternative child-care options can contact Child Care Connect toll-free at 1-844-644-5165 or use the Child Care Lookup tool to find other licensed programs. Anyone wishing to report concerns about a child-care facility can use the same number.

The province notes that while most child-care providers meet or exceed standards, enforcement actions such as probationary licences or suspensions may be taken when programs fail to comply. If a facility does not return to compliance during its probationary period, its licence may be cancelled.
