The province’s real GDP grew by 3.1 per cent between 2023 and 2024, reaching $83.6 billion and outpacing the national growth rate of 1.7 per cent. Saskatchewan ranked second among all provinces for economic growth.

“Saskatchewan has one of the strongest economies in Canada. These results show the benefits are reaching families, workers and communities alike,” said Trade and Export Development Minister Warren Kaeding.

“Our continued economic growth is what allows us to invest in priorities while keeping Saskatchewan competitive and secure for the future.”

Several sectors helped drive the increase. Construction rose 9.8 per cent, agriculture and related industries grew 7.7 per cent, mining and oil and gas increased 4.6 per cent and health care and social assistance climbed 4.8 per cent.

The province also led the country in private capital investment in 2024, which jumped 17.3 per cent to $14.7 billion. Investment is projected to rise again in 2025 to $16.2 billion, a further increase of 10.1 per cent.

The provincial government says the momentum aligns with its Securing the Next Decade of Growth investment attraction strategy and ongoing efforts to promote Saskatchewan as a competitive place to do business.
