Saskatchewan has topped the nation in wholesale trade growth, according to Statistics Canada.

From October 2024 to October 2025, wholesale trade in the province (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, other hydrocarbons, oilseed, and grain) increased by 12 per cent, the highest year-over-year growth among Canadian provinces. Month-over-month, the sector rose 4.6 per cent, ranking second nationally.

Trade and export development minister Warren Kaeding highlighted the significance of the growth.
“An increase in wholesale trade shows increased consumer confidence, which allows us to attract more investment into the province and, in turn, spend more on the programs, services, and infrastructure citizens rely on,” he said.
“Our government remains committed to fostering a competitive business environment while improving quality of life, making our province the destination of choice to live, work, and raise a family.”
In October 2025, the total value of Saskatchewan’s wholesale trade reached $4 billion. Wholesale trade measures the value of goods purchased in large quantities with the intention of resale, rather than sale to final consumers.
The province’s economic momentum extends beyond wholesale trade. Statistics Canada reports Saskatchewan’s 2024 real GDP hit an all-time high of $83.6 billion, up $2.5 billion or 3.1 per cent over 2023. This ranks the province second in the country for GDP growth, well above the national average of 1.7 per cent.
Private capital investment also continues to surge, rising 17.3 per cent last year to $14.7 billion—first among provinces—and is projected to reach $16.2 billion in 2025, a 10.1 per cent increase over 2024.
The growth follows the province’s launch of Securing the Next Decade of Growth – Saskatchewan’s Investment Attraction Strategy, which, along with the trade and investment portal InvestSK.ca, aims to position Saskatchewan as Canada’s premier destination for business and investment.
