Council is required to establish its deputy mayor schedule prior to Dec. 31 of each year.

The deputy schedule has been approved as follows:

January/February – Coun. David Lopez

March/April – Coun. Michele Charles Gustafson

May/June – Coun. Justin Vance

July/August – Coun. Jason Whiting

September/October – Coun. Michael Diachuk

November/December – Coun. Jim Taylor

Mayor and council were also appointed to the various committees they’ll serve on.

Elected officials will serve on 28 committees, including the Alberta Hub, Chamber of Commerce, Emergency Advisory Committee and Labour Negotiations, among others.

Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers hopes to shuffle the committee appointments in the coming year to provide councillors with diverse experiences.

“Next year, we would likely mix up the committees a little more to give council a better experience on a broader perspective,” he said. “My intention is to hopefully have council be as diverse with their knowledge and experience as possible.”

The intention would be to review the committee appointments prior to next year’s appointments.
