Cold Lake RCMP is advising local business owners to be vigilant after a recent increase in cash box thefts.

Police say they have responded to several reports over the past week and that the investigation is ongoing. Officers are encouraging the public to report any suspicious activity in the area.
RCMP is also offering crime-prevention tips for businesses, including ensuring premises are securely locked at the end of the day and well lit at all times. Police recommend installing monitored or self-monitored surveillance cameras and alarm systems where possible.
Business owners are further advised to store cash boxes in a locked safe or a secondary secure location.
