Kitscoty RCMP has charged a 32-year-old St. Albert man in connection with a fatal collision on Highway 16 west of Kitscoty more than a year ago.

Police said Maninder Dhaliwal was arrested on Jan. 20 following an investigation into the crash, with assistance from the Eastern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit and St. Albert RCMP.
Dhaliwal is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and criminal negligence causing death. He was released on conditions after appearing before a justice of the peace and is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in St. Paul on Feb. 12.
The charges stem from a collision that occurred on Dec. 1, 2024, at about 8:49 p.m., involving a semi-truck and a car on Highway 16.
The driver of the car, a 29-year-old man from Vermilion, Alta., was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the crash, Highway 16 westbound between Range Road 30 and Range Road 25 was closed while police investigated. Traffic was detoured along Highway 897 and Range Road 25.
RCMP said their investigation remains ongoing.
