Police say officers were called to the downtown area around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 31 after reports of two injured people. An adult man and woman were found with injuries described as non-life-threatening and were taken to hospital by EMS.
Investigators determined the pair were injured during an altercation involving several people at a residence on 100th Street, where they were allegedly assaulted and forcibly confined. Police say both victims later escaped.
A man was arrested early Feb. 1 in North Battleford as the investigation continued.
RCMP say 26-year-old Conner Dreaver of North Battleford and 21-year-old Mia Starchief of Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation are each charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, break and enter to commit an offence, and robbery.
Starchief is also charged with failing to comply with a release order.
Dreaver is scheduled to appear in North Battleford provincial court on Feb. 23.
A warrant has been issued for Starchief’s arrest, and RCMP say efforts to locate her are ongoing.
Starchief is described as five-foot-three, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes and dyed blue hair. Police say her hair colour in a released photo does not reflect her current appearance.
Anyone who sees Starchief is asked not to approach her and to contact Battlefords RCMP at 310-RCMP. Anonymous tips can also be provided to Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
