Jo Anne Cross

ANNE: Jo Anne Cross (Ogilvie) of Lloydminster, AB passed away peacefully on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Lloydminster Hospital at the age of 90 years. Jo was born on January 19, 1936 to Alvin and Annie Ogilvie in Regina, SK. Her dad passed when she was 14 and she dedicated herself to graduate high school, work and help raise her two brothers. In high school, she was the Editor of the school newspaper and a singer in the Saskatchewan Golden Jubilee Choir. She entered the Nursing program at Regina General Hospital and graduated in 1958. She met Jim Cross on a blind date and married June 1959. After stops in North Battleford and Prince Albert and extending the family with Dale, Cindy, Glen and Cory, they settled in Lloydminster in 1973. Jo nursed at the Lloydminster Clinic for 24 years, and was known for her empathy and ability to give a painless needle. She then ran a home business, renting maternity clothes. Time with the kids, camping, family suppers, baking, traveling, jive dancing were some of her favourite things. She established herself as a strong lead curler, winning the 1989 Senior Alberta Northern Playdowns, and getting to the provincial finals. Singing was her passion. She sang for the Queen with the Musical Mosaics, led mom chants at Cory’s hockey games and was a member of the Lloydminstrels for many years. Jo was predeceased by: her husband, Harry (Jim) Cross; parents, Alvin and Annie Ogilvie; brothers, Robert and Fred; parents-in-law, William and Ruby Cross; sisters-in-law, Gwen Krienke and Lucy Gauthier; and brother-in-law, Laurie Cross. She is survived by: her children, Dale (Susan), Cindy Yawney (Harley Dietrich), Glen (Kathy) and Cory (Shannon); 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Roy Krienke and Robert Gauthier; and sister-in-law, Eva Ogilvie. A Celebration of Life will be held on June 20 at the Legacy Center.
