DEAN: Darwin William Dean passed away at Lloydminster Hospital, Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on April 24, 2026 at the age of 78 years. Darwin William Dean, born December 10, 1947, in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, passed away after a life deeply rooted in family, hard work, and community. He was the son of Kenneth George Dean (1908–1980) and Margaret Pearl Dean née Graham (1919–1994), and was raised on the family farm near Huntoon, Saskatchewan. In the late 1960s, he began his career in the oil industry with Husky Oil in Kindersley. He married Ruth Freeman in October 1968, and together they built a life grounded in dedication and resilience. In 1974, they moved to Lloydminster, where he managed Canadian Hydrogas before establishing All Phaze Oilfield Consultants. He later joined Leyen Oilwell Servicing, which became Ensign Energy Services, where he worked as a manager until his retirement in 2012. He had a passion for the outdoors and cherished time spent at the lake. He owned a cabin at Pine Cove, Loon Lake beginning in the mid-1980s, and in 2007, he and his partner Elaine Ebenal built their dream cabin there. He especially enjoyed fishing, curling, golf, and hosting family and friends. Darwin is survived by: his son, Rob Dean (Jesse); step-children, Tammy (Craig), Justin (Amanda), Robert and Terry; step-grandchildren, Shelby, Maddison, Hannah, , Danica, James and Sabrina; nieces, Tara (Neil) and Tomi-lyn; nephew, Ryan; siblings, Ken (Dana) and Sherry (Ken); and numerous extended family and friends. Darwin is predeceased by: his first wife, Ruth Dean; partner, Elaine Ebenal; and parents, Kenneth and Margaret Dean. A Private Family Interment for Darwin will take place at the Lloydminster City Cemetery in the summer.
