Selected students from E.S. Laird Middle School, Bishop Lloyd Middle School, College Park School, Avery School and Lloydminster Comprehensive High School will participate in the upcoming Treaty 6 150 Year Commemorative Canoe Voyage.

The eight-day voyageur canoe expedition will follow the historic route between Fort Pitt and Fort Carlton, where Treaty 6 was originally negotiated and signed in 1876.

The journey is scheduled to begin on May 27 at Fort Pitt and will conclude on June 3 at Fort Carlton.

To allow peers and staff to follow their progress, a route map will be displayed in each participating school, supplemented by daily updates from the water.

The student group began practical preparations this week, taking to the water for a practice session in the voyageur canoes.
