As in past years, Lloydminster Comprehensive High School was well-represented at the School Sport Alberta rugby 7s provincial championships last weekend in Lethbridge.

Both the girls’ and boys’ teams carried the Barons’ colours into their respective 4A/5A divisions for competition against some of the best high school programs in the province.
While neither team from the Northeast zone reached the provincial podium this season, both Lloyd Comp clubs gave it the old college try.
The LCHS girls posted a 1-4 record, while the boys’ team was winless in five games.
The female Barons won their final game in Saturday’s playoff round, defeating Red Deer’s Notre Dame (Central zone) 12-5 shortly after losing a narrow 22-17 decision against host Chinook from the South zone.
In Friday’s pool play, the girls from LCHS lost 51-0 to Raymond (South), 34-0 to Jasper Place (Edmonton) and 29-0 to Holy Trinity Academy (South Central).
On the boys’ side, the Barons lost two playoff games on Saturday — 31-5 against Bev Facey (Edmonton) and 15-5 versus Notre Dame (Central).
In a busy day of pool action Friday, the Barons fell 43-0 versus Chinook (South), 26-0 to Holy Trinity Academy (South Central) and 66-5 against Archbishop O’Leary (Edmonton).
