Canoe Narrows man struck by semi-truck, killed on Highway 16

A 32-year-old man from Canoe Narrows, Sask., is dead after being struck by a semi-truck on Highway 16 early Friday morning.

Battlefords RCMP responded to the scene about eight kilometres west of North Battleford at around 1:55 a.m.

Local fire and emergency medical services also responded and the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said his family has been notified.

The driver and sole occupant of the semi-truck did not report any physical injuries.

The highway was partially closed while emergency crews responded, but the area has since reopened. Battlefords RCMP and a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
