Open Farm Days is part of the province’s efforts to show people where their food comes from. This year will have some new demos, performers and the same friendly welcome.
The event will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the farm near Derwent, approximately an hour west of Lloydminster.
Charlotte Wasilyk’s family has held the event at Chatsworth Farms for many years.

“This year, we’ve added sheep shearing demonstrations,” said Wasilyk. “The sheep are ours, and the shearer is coming from Saskatchewan.”
She said the shearer has worked with their flock for the past two years and is great with visitors.
Wasilyk is also adding more cooking sessions and equine demonstrations featuring the farm’s three horses.
“We’ve got a butchery demo this year. It’ll run alongside our usual beef, lamb and pork demos,” she said, noting live music returns, with a twist.
“This year we have a new act — they’re a duo from Edmonton called the Wollstern Thistles.”
The duo plans to perform on the farm at three separate times.
Participants can also enjoy guided farm tours, face painting, local vendors markets and more.
The Derwent Fire Department will also be on site with gear demos and fundraising for STARS Air Ambulance.
“It’s shaping up to be a really fun day,” Wasilyk said.
More information about the activities at the farm can be found on their website.
