 City of Lloydminster employees mitigated a spill of unknown origins shortly after noon on Aug. 5.

The incident began with an emergency response from the Lloydminster Fire Department to the 5700 block of 43 St. Upon arrival, crews worked to isolate and absorb a fluid leak with a spread of approximately 50 meters between two driveways in the gutter area.

Initially, firefighters secured one lane of traffic for safety. Later in the afternoon, City crews erected barricades to prevent the spread of the absorbent material.

Around 4 p.m., city employees utilized a large vac truck and high-pressure washers to clear the spill completely.

The roadway reopened to two-way traffic shortly thereafter.

On-scene officials were unable to confirm the type or origin of the leak.
