MINISH: Frederick Gordon Minish passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Integrated Health Centre in Macklin, SK at the age of 94 years. Fred was born on March 8, 1931, in Rosetown, SK, to Orville and Ethel (Hare) Minish. He was the second youngest of nine children and grew up with a strong sense of family, hard work, community and values that guided him throughout his life. After completing high school in Rosetown, Fred began farming alongside his brothers, Bob and John. Farming would remain a central part of his life after he and his wife Theresa (“Teddy”) were married in 1957. In 1960, they moved to Lashburn, SK, where they farmed south of town along the Battle River and raised their four sons. Fred took great pride in his work on the land and in providing for his family. Never one to sit still, Fred pursued a variety of interests. He had natural curiosity for how things worked and a lifelong love of building and repairing. Whether it was creating something with his hands or carefully restoring old radios, he found joy in tinkering and had an appreciation for craftmanship which enabled him to express and develop his creativity. Later in life, he discovered a passion for downhill skiing and spent many winters as a certified ski patroller with the Canadian Ski Patrol, an accomplishment he was especially proud of. Above all, Fred was devoted to his family. He was a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather who took great joy in watching his family grow. Fred is lovingly remembered by: his wife, Theresa (“Teddy”) Minish; his sons, Grant Minish of Vancouver, B.C ; Dale (Nicole) Minish of Lloydminster, SK; Duane (Kim) Minish of Lloydminster, AB; and Travis (Deb) Minish of Lloydminster, AB; grandchildren, Haylee (Carson), Owen (Kyra), Brandon (Megan), Katlin (Chey), Teddy, Arthur, Daisy, Kirsten (Jordan), Danton, Mikayla (Andre) and Andrie; great – grandchildren, Ezra, Faye, Jaxon and Beau; brother-in-law David Lockerbie; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
