This afternoon, Rosemarie Falk, MP for Battlefords-Lloydminster, issued a statement on the successful passage of a Conservative motion to amend section 24 of the Saskatchewan Act.

“Today the House of Commons voted in favour of our Conservative Opposition Day Motion to amend the Saskatchewan Act by repealing CP Rail’s tax exemption in Saskatchewan,” read her statement.

“This was the second time Conservatives have asked the Liberal government to remove this longstanding provision. This constitutional change will achieve tax fairness for Saskatchewan on this matter and the success of our motion commits the Government of Canada to it. Along with my Conservative colleagues, I look forward to supporting efforts to ensure this commitment is carried out expeditiously by the Trudeau Liberal government to ensure the voices of the people of Saskatchewan are respected. Conservatives will always be on Saskatchewan’s side.”
