At approximately 2 p.m. on May 24, Lloydminster RCMP, Lloydminster Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services were dispatched to a report of a 5 vehicle collision on 44 Street and 66 Ave. in Lloydminster.
Preliminary investigation revealed a westbound brown Ford F150 struck a car in the turning lane at this intersection which then caused 3 additional vehicles to be involved in the collision. The 20-year-old male passenger of the car from Kitscoty was declared deceased on scene, while the 22-year-old female driver from Lloydminster was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Additional drivers and passengers involved in the collision were also assessed by EMS with several transported to hospital as well.
The investigation by Lloydminster RCMP is on-going. Police are seeking any additional witnesses to this collision, as well as any witnesses that may have observed the brown Ford F150 driving through Lloydminster or outlying areas. If you have any information about his incident, please contact the Lloydminster RCMP at 780-808-8400.
Lloydminster RCMP wish to also remind the public about driving habits around emergency scenes, as the volume of people slowing down and stopping to watch the scene via adjacent service roads caused additional traffic issues in the area. RCMP and City of Lloydminster Peace Officers ticketed numerous vehicles for distracted driving and stop sign violations as well as observing several additional near-miss collisions. Please drive safe around emergency scenes and avoid the area when possible.
