Stolen tractor leads to arrest in Elk Point

On Jan. 25, as a result of an ongoing investigation into the theft of farm equipment, members from the RCMP’s Lakeland Crime Reduction Unit (LCRU), with assistance from the Elk Point RCMP, located and recovered a stolen farm tractor, valued at approximately $160K. One male suspect was arrested at a rural property after being found in possession of the stolen tractor.

Leslie Alan Hillebrand, 45, a resident of Elk Point, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000;
  • Tampering with a vehicle identification number.

Hillebrand was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing where he was released by a Justice of the Peace on a no cash bail Release Order. Hillebrand is scheduled to attend St. Paul Provincial Court on Feb. 16.
