On July 18 at approximately 5:40 a.m., Meadow Lake RCMP responded to the report of a shooting at a business in Meadow Lake.
Officers and local EMS responded immediately, and upon arrival, located the victim who sustained a serious, life-threatening injury. The victim was transported to hospital where he was declared deceased. The victim was a 23-year-old male from Meadow Lake. His family has been notified and Victim Services has been engaged to provide support.
Additional RCMP resources including North Battleford Forensic Identification Services and the Emergency Response Team (ERT) were engaged to secure the scene and gather evidence for processing. The scene has been cleared.
The Saskatchewan Coroners Service also attended and ordered an autopsy.
Due to the nature of the circumstances of the victim’s death, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes has assumed carriage of the investigation. Based on information collected to date, the death is being investigated as a homicide.
Investigators continue to conduct witness interviews and gather information to develop a clear timeline of events and determine the circumstances surrounding the victim’s death.
