Margaret BROWN April 17, 1940 –December 7, 2024 We mourn the loss of Margaret Eileen Brown who passed away December 7, 2024. Born in Lloydminster in 1940 she leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Gordon Brown; their children, Son, Wayne (Jane) Brown; Daughter, Sheila (Darren) Schneider; Five Grandsons, Jaison Schneider; Brandon (Ashley) Schneider; Catlin (Ashley) Schneider; John Brown and James Brown; Nine Great Grandchildren, Bohdi, Blake, Knightley / Hudson, Romee, Sivan / Crosby, Lennon, Teague. She was immensely proud of her role as a Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma and the values she passed on to them. Margaret was the fourth youngest of eleven children. She attended schooling in Lloydminster and went on to attend Marvel Hairdressing School in Edmonton. Together with her sister, Dot, they opened their own Beauty Salon downstairs of the Lloydminster Co-op. In 1961, Margaret married Gordon Brown and they moved to a farm SouthEast of Lloydminster where they raised their family, farmed and still reside. Within that 63 years of marriage she held many Titles – devoted Wife, Mother, Grandma, Great Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Cousin, Hairdresser, Combine operator, Grain hauler, Cook, Gardener, Curler, Neighbor, Friend and many others. She was most definitely an integral part of their family and farm. She had an active involvement in the Lloydminster Royal Purple when she joined in 1975. Her cherished accomplishments were the positions she held of Past Honored Royal Lady, District Deputy in addition to serving as part of the Provincial Team ascending through the chairs as Inner Guard, Chaplain, Conductress, 3rd Vice President and honored to accept the position in 2006-2007 as President of the Alberta Royal Purple Lodges Association at which point she had already been a dedicated member for over 30 years. She was the 14th Provincial President at that time and she selected her Theme to be ‘TIME – Take Time to be honest and thoughtful of others, Take time to Dream, everything is possible”. The Theme she chose was her to a tee – Honest, Thoughtful, Dedicated. In 2008 she was on the National Executive of the Canadian Royal Purple Society. She served as Supreme Honored Royal Lady for the term 2013-2014 at which time she became a Lifetime Member. She continued in that capacity for the terms 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 in Alberta. Margaret was known to many within the Order as ‘the lady who saved Royal Purple’ and her friends know the endeavors she made to keep it going. Changes within Royal Purple eventually lead to the Lloydminster Order dissolving and she ‘retired’ earning accolades over a 46 plus year devotion. She was so genuine with her interest with everyone she met, greeting them with a sparkle in her eyes and her big, beautiful, and kind smile. Her nature was gentle, relaxed and sincere. She provided the calm no matter how hurried or hectic life might have been. Those that knew Margaret realized she would never want to be the focus of attention. She didn’t think about herself first, it was always about someone else and their needs. Margaret’s absence will be deeply felt by her family, friends and all who were touched by her vibrant and generous spirit, strength and kindness. Margaret is survived by her Sisters, Shirley (Ken) Abrams and Lorna (Dave) Elaschuk; Sisters-In-Law Marj Emerson and Kim Emerson as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
