Update: RCMP shelter in place lifted

9:50 a.m. – Updated – RCMP have lifted the shelter in place. Police expect to have more information in a further press release.

Bonnyville RCMP has issued a shelter-in-place order near Kehewin due to a police operation involving a suspect with a firearm.

There is a heavy police presence on Township Road 592A, south of Highway 657 and east of Highway 41. Officers are asking residents in the area to stay inside, lock their doors and avoid windows.

Police also asks the public not to post photos of officers on social media.

Police understand this situation may cause concern. However, they are working to locate the suspect.

Officials urge residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activity to Lac La Biche RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
