At the meeting, council awarded the contract to ASL Paving Ltd. of Lloydminster for an estimated yearly cost of $601,624 for their 2025-27 asphalt patching program.
When it comes to patching, the city tries to do some of it themselves.
“So, you’ve got city crews doing basic pothole maintenance, you’ll have ASL doing this work, as well as potentially other city street work they’ve been awarded,” said Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers.
The city may be out filling as many holes as they can find, with tips from the public helping identify problem areas.
“If I get two or three concerns from the public on one area we’ll go and check it. There is areas we will miss when we do it covering the whole city. If it requires repair, it actually goes to the contractor if it’s big enough, if it’s small enough we’ll try to handle it ourselves,” said Dave Henning director of transportation.
ASL will be required to provide all materials, tools, equipment, labour, and supervision along with traffic-control measures.

That’s great news! The people that work on these crews live in Lloyd, shop in Lloyd and send their kids to school i. Lloyd. Always hated to see others come in and do work that should have been done locally! Congrats to ASL and all it’s employees.
