At the July 21 regular council meeting, council heard previous city clerk, Marilyn Lavoie, had tendered her resignation notice, which led to the appointment.

“Thus creating a need to appoint an acting city clerk to ensure we follow legislation,” said Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers, noting Lavoie was a strong contributor to the city.

“Marilyn has been a strong contributor to our team at the city,” he said. “She had an opportunity, I understand, to enhance herself in a different position somewhere else.”

Lavoie took over as city clerk Oct. 7 and served as interim city clerk following the retirement of Doug Rodwell.
