The sun came out as folks from as far as Calgary shaved their heads at the 24th annual Lori Craven Memorial Tournament.

Crowds packed Driven Energy Legion Ball Park over the weekend for the cause.

The annual balloon release to remember lost loved ones kicked off the head shaving before championship ball was played on Sunday (Aug. 17) afternoon.

Funds are raised through donations and the shaving of heads and go directly to local and area families with health and financial struggles.

Mel Coote from The Motley Troupe and Mel’s Hair Shop surprised everyone when she announced she too would shave her head for the cause.

Check this week’s edition of the Meridian Source for the full story.
