A sunny day and oversized equipment attracted hundreds to Bud Miller All Seasons Park on Sept. 16 to see the City of Lloydminster’s mighty machines.

Wheels at Work: Meet the Mighty Machines saw kids of all ages climb aboard graders, garbage trucks, police cars and many other large pieces of machinery.

The City organized the day as a way to familiarize the community with the vehicles they see every day.

The longest line up for most of the afternoon was at the GFL garbage truck, as kids were able to get inside and honk the horn. Young attendees also found the firetrucks, police vehicles and dump trucks a significant attraction.

Councillors and city staff crewed several information stations, allowing parents to gain a better understanding of how our municipality operates.

With the 2026 budget coming up for review in the coming weeks, feedback from that portion of the event was essential to those involved.

The city plans to host events like this in the future as they find it a good way to interact with the community. It also shows citizens where some of their tax dollars go.
